A very big welcome to the new people just joining PLAINSIGHT. We are very excited to have you all onboard and cant wait to get working and stuck in with “The Night Before Christmas”.

Roesja graduated from Rose Bruford in 2010 where she predominately trained in physically theatre, looking at various training techniques from mask work, clowning, rhythm, puppetry and improvisation. She studied for a semester in Barcelona. Since graduating she has done a lot of production work and is making her way into short films as well as pursuing theatre.

Latiesha is a theatre maker. As a performer she continues to challenge myself and she thrive on ensemble projects that push the boundaries of what is possible in theatre and film. She uses her skills in acting, workshop facilitation, spoken word and movement to make work that is imaginative, fun and challenging.

Joanne is also a keen theatre devisor and has a strong dance background which is branching out into much physical work and has good musical skills. She just finished playing Eve (actor and puppeteer in The Deliverance of Sanctuary) Arts Depo London, and had various roles and puppeteering in The Velveteen Rabbit and Greek Myths Kids (C Venues, Edinburgh).

Cafe Conversations at Edinburgh Fringe!

Hi all.

Please join us in Edinburgh in August 2012.

Plain Sight will be showing Cafe Conversations across the city throughout the festival.

Cafe Conversations series of conversations from theatre set in public spaces. The project explores the idea of eavesdropping on the conversations of others as well as staging performances in unconventional locations for an unaware audience. The work presents theatre in a non-theatrical setting, reaching a non-theatre audience. The performance exists in the middle of an unsuspecting audience, where it can be overheard.

Through the act of eavesdropping, the audience realises that they are eavesdropping on something artificial, and so feel justified in their act and encouraged to view the performance more openly.

The project features a selection of conversations from Shakespeare, contemporary and emerging playwrights.

The project places theatre in a public space, in plain sight of whoever chooses to engage with it. Performers leave subtle invitations to the audience, encouraging them to find another performance in a different venue, leading to an underground following of the performances, which are happening covertly in a number of cafes.

“Pictures Of Lily is a feature film that has been shot on location in Brighton, UK. It”s a charming, amusing and challenging tale of two very different people drawn to each other over the course of 24 hours. It looks beautiful, the performances are captivating and the soundtrack is stunning.

In Pictures Of Lily we follow an odd couple (a quiet, dispirited, nameless businessman and a forthright, free-spirited woman called Lily) as they make their way through a seaside town and their one day together.

First we spy the suited London Man –a fish out of water– as he loses himself in Modern Bohemia surrounded by hippy hipsters. We watch as he regards a stranger in a flea market, until she spots him back and confronts him – but not us, fortunately. Then we attach ourselves to the two of them as they play mind games; watch and interact with others. But do they know they are being watched? Do they know each other? Or are they destined to part the way they met … as strangers?”
